Bringing Crafts Technology into the Hyperion Materials & Technologies family of companies is creating many exciting possibilities for applying our combined materials science, engineering and manufacturing expertise to a wider range of customers across a larger geographic footprint.

One of the first product areas where we identified synergies that would benefit our customers is high-performance cutting solutions for the nonwovens market.

Since the early 1990s, Hyperion has been designing and manufacturing custom rotary cutting units used in high-speed converting lines to make personal care, hygiene and many other types of products. By applying mastery in the materials science of cemented tungsten carbide and a deep understanding of the product manufacturing process, Hyperion has been able to develop complete cutting solutions that make millions of consistent cuts, reducing maintenance time and improving productivity. Traditionally, these applications have been diapers and feminine care products, but in recent years, Hyperion has developed additional solutions for many other products, from disposable medical supplies to personal protective equipment (PPE) to packaging.

Crafts, which traces its roots to 1860, has a rich legacy in manufacturing precision components from advanced materials for many industries and applications and has also exceled in delivering high-performance cutting components. Many of these are also used in converting lines by these same types of customers, but in different areas of the converting line.

Together, we are just starting to learn about the ways in which our competencies complement each other, and our teams are very excited to be working together to continue to develop solutions that enhance our overall offering to our customers.
