In addition, Hyperion is continuously developing new canmaker tooling materials, including lighter weight carbides and materials with improved resistance to adhesion, abrasion, and corrosion.

 

Cemented carbide grade: S323

Grade S323 is a magnetic cemented carbide that has extremely high toughness and corrosion resistant properties. Millions of cans can be produced without grade S323 presenting cracks. This material can withstand agressive coolant emulsion conditions.

  • Punch sleeves

 

Cemented carbide grade: H12N

Grade H12N is a magnetic material that offers a good balance of toughness and wear resistance for can tooling components. This cemented carbide grade is a powerful solution that can endure millions of cans without cracks. Grade H12N withstands standard coolant emulsion conditions.

Uses for grade H12N

  • Punch sleeves
  • Redraw sleeves
  • Outer retainers
  • Cupper press tools including die centers, draw pads, cut edge dies, and draw blank dies

 

Cemented carbide grade: S385

Grade S385 is a non-magnetic cemented carbide that has extremely high toughness and corrosion resistant properties. Millions of cans can be produced without grade S385 presenting cracks. This material can withstand agressive coolant emulsion conditions.

  • Punch sleeves
  • Redraw sleeves
  • Outer retainers

Cemented carbide grade: C9M

Grade C9M is a non-magnetic cemented carbide that has extremely high toughness and corrosion resistant properties. Millions of cans can be produced without grade C9M presenting cracks. This material can withstand very agressive coolant emulsion conditions.

Uses for grade C9M:

  • Redraw dies

 

Cemented carbide grade: H10F

Grade H10F cemented carbide is the best balance between toughness and wear resistance. The greatest benefit of grade H10F cemented carbide is the reduced wear experienced during moderate impact conditions.

Use for grade H10F:

  • Redraw sleeve

 

Cemented carbide grade: H6F

Grade H6F cemented carbide offers extremely high wear resistance with moderate toughness. This material presents minimal abrasive wear for metal forming on limited impact conditions.

Uses for grade H6F:

  • Ironing dies
  • Pilot dies
  • Burnish dies

 

Steel coated and uncoated: per market demand

Uses for coated and uncoated steel:

  • Punch nose
  • Punch bolt
  • Dome die
