MBS Product Line

MBS diamond abrasives are used on saw and core drill tools for exceptional consistency applications. These superabrasives are tightly controlled and defined with specified fix cycling tumbling impact (TI) testing, ensuring minimal batch variability and allowing wider specs for broader applications. MBS diamond abrasives create products with less population variability within a batch but can also be batched with more comprehensive TI specs.

Toolmakers can rely on every grain of diamond being nearly the same when utilizing MBS diamond abrasives, enabling them to confidently create high-performance tooling without risking performance due to diamond variation.

MBS optimizes highly specialized tooling for consistent cut rate and performance. In harsh environments like construction and reinforced concrete, demanding applications challenge tool performance. The right MBS diamond grade empowers toolmakers to consistently push performance boundaries, whether it's tool life, cutting speed, or surface finish, every time.

Hyperion's MBS diamonds offer various sizes and shapes, featuring consistent crystal attributes across all grades. This translates to predictable sawing, coring, and polishing performance, even under intermittent or heavy loads.

MBS™ 970 Diamond

Hyperion’s MBS 970 diamond abrasives are developed through innovative diamond characterization technology, focusing on optical spectroscopy, image analysis, and fracture mechanics. The superior properties of this diamond enable improved wear performance, ranging up to 50% in challenging applications, while power consumption decreases as much as 10%.

MBS 970 contains engineered crystals with extremely high strength, supreme thermal stability, and controlled shapes. Suitable for applications demanding consistent and aggressive cut rates, MBS 970 offers superior tool life. It is excellent for wire sawing, multi-blade and large-blade slabbing, high-performance sawing, and drilling.

MBS™ 960 Diamond

Hyperion’s MBS 960 diamond abrasives are excellent for very high-impact and high-power applications. Engineered with crystals that have high impact strength, MBS 960 diamonds contain minimal inclusion levels and optimized shapes.

MBS™ 950 and 960 XL Diamond

Hyperion manufactures MBS extra-large diamonds for applications where extremely robust performances are required. These diamonds result from an enhanced crystal designed for the Hyperion MBS 900 diamond series. The diamonds are a low risk for toll manufacturers and end users. MBS XL diamond abrasives provide crystal designs that enable higher throughput at lower system costs, allowing for the use of enhanced cutting parameters and considerably longer tool life. The MBS XL diamond proprietary design technology significantly reduces the risk of field failures, even under the most adverse conditions.

MBS™ 950 Diamond

Hyperion’s MBS 950 diamond contains engineered crystals with low inclusion levels. These diamonds contain high thermal strength and narrow shape distributions and are excellent for high-impact and high-power restricted machines.

MBS™ 940 Diamond

Hyperion’s MBS 940 diamond is suitable for general-purpose applications with moderate performance demands. Its crystals are engineered with moderate inclusion levels, providing various shapes and strengths. MBS 940 diamonds are an excellent option for general-purpose applications.

MBS™ 930 Diamond

The MBS 930 diamond abrasives are a premium option for dry-cutting blades. Hyperion’s MBS 930 diamonds are medium friability crystals retaining a high percentage of good whole-cutting shapes.

MBS™ 920 Diamond

Hyperion’s MBS 920 diamond abrasives are engineered crystals with moderately friable diamonds combined with cubo-octahedral crystals and other whole shapes. It is designed for moderate applications where impact strength is favored.

MBS™ 910 Diamond

The MBS 910 diamond abrasives are designed for light applications requiring moderate impact strength. These diamond abrasives contain crystals engineered with higher friability and a broader distribution of shape and strength properties.
