Hyperion supports flow control applications across oil and gas production and processing, from pipelines to gas and liquid measurement. For severe-service conditions, Hyperion manufactures finished valve components to final tolerances for direct assembly and also produces valve sub-assemblies that join cemented carbide with stainless steel or other alloy counterparts to match customer valve designs.

Since service conditions vary across land, wellsite, and subsea applications, Hyperion selects carbide grades according to the balance of erosion resistance, corrosion resistance, toughness, and cavitation performance required for the job. This helps engineers specify control valve trim that is aligned with valve geometry, process media, and operating conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions about Flow Control Valve Trim

Tungsten carbide is preferred for choke seats and points because it combines high hardness with wear resistance, erosion resistance, corrosion resistance, and impact resistance in high-velocity flow. Hyperion uses high-performance carbide grades such as AM12, CR9C, DZ05, and DZ07 to tune that balance for different applications, from subsea choke components to high-velocity choke trim assemblies.

Hyperion valve sub-assemblies can be specified for sour-service requirements, but NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 compliance should be confirmed case by case. The standard addresses the selection and qualification of metallic materials for H2S-containing oil and gas environments, so compliance depends on the full material combination, hardness, joining method, coating or surface treatment, and the defined service conditions for the stainless steel or alloy counterpart in the sub-assembly.
