Versimax is a revolutionary diamond composite material created from a state-of-the-art high-pressure high-temperature process. It is designed for drawing and compacting applications of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The diamond composite material offers exceptional wear resistance, superior mechanical strength, and phenomenal thermal stability for various ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

Versimax diamond composite material exhibits superior corrosion and wear resistance within high-temperature operations. The material's high-strength attributes are similar to cobalt-sintered PCD but with superior thermal stability. Versimax is used as a die blank grade within wire drawing. It is thermally stable up to 1,400°C, creating less risk of failures during the wire drawing process.

Hyperion Materials & Technologies provides Versimax in self-supported wire die blanks without carbide support rings. It is available in custom sizes and shapes and prepared to be customized to meet customer specifications. Hyperion provides simpler shapes, such as cylinders, rectangular, or triangular prisms, and complicated geometries, such as conical shapes, hollow cylinders, negative features, and more. Versimax can also be attached to tungsten carbide or steel by furnace brazing, and tools can be produced by press fitting, heat shrink fitting, adhesive bonding, or mechanical fixturing.

About Versimax™ - Standard Blanks

Versimax Applications

Hyperion's Versimax diamond composite material offers unique solutions for drawing and compacting applications for various ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Blanks can be used for drawing, bunching, compacting, stranding, extruding, and a variety of wear applications for different materials like low carbon steel, tire cords, aluminum, stainless steel, and copper. Versimax can also be used in other applications, such as high-pressure high-temperature tools for diamond synthesis, geothermal studies, and other forming processes.

Versimax Benefits

Versimax offers several advantages when used in ferrous and non-ferrous applications. It offers superior thermal stability compared to PCD die blanks. It provides a significantly reduced coefficient of thermal expansion and is electrically conductive, allowing flexibility in cutting various geometries. Versimax can be cut to the near-net-shape geometry, requiring minimal finishing processes. Its wear resistance is comparable to that of PCD, and its corrosion resistance is slightly better than that of PCD.

Frequently Asked Questions about Versimax

Versimax is a revolutionary diamond composite materials that offers superior wear resistance and thermal stability for drawing and compacting applications for various ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

Versimax diamond composite material is used in drawing, compacting, and forming applications involving ferrous and non-ferrous materials such as low-carbon steel, tire cords, aluminum wires, stainless steel, and copper wire.

Versimax diamond composite material is offered in die blanks and self-supported die blanks, and they do not have carbide support rings. It is available in a diameter of 35 mm and a height of 35 mm. However, it can be customized and prepared for customer-specific sizes and shapes. This diamond composite material is provided in simple shapes such as cylinders, rectangular or triangular prisms, and complicated shapes, including conical, hollow cylinders, negative features, etc. Versimax can be attached to tungsten carbide or steel by furnace brazing, and the tools can be produced by press fitting, heat shrink fitting, adhesive bonding, or mechanical fixturing.

Versimax diamond composite material provides several benefits when used in wire dies, with a key benefit being that it offers superior thermal stability, up to 1,400°C, which can significantly reduce the coefficient of thermal expansion in dies. It is electrically conductive and provides more flexibility in cutting various geometries, such as near-net-shape geometry of customers' specifications. Versimax is also available in larger sizes of unsupported PCD, allowing it to be easily brazed or shrink-fitted into the casing. Lastly, it provides excellent wear and corrosion resistance, slightly better than those of PCD.

Versimax diamond composite material is best used in high-temperature, high-pressure applications where corrosion is heavily involved, compared to PCD. It is available in larger sizes than PCD, with a diameter of 35 mm and a height of 35 mm. With its size differentiation and unique thermally conductive and corrosion-resistanct properties, Versimax is a great substitute for PCD.

Versimax die blanks can be brazed like PCD. They can be hot-cased and cold-cased into the case.
